Happy Birthday, Pieta!

Mike, Jack and I had an absolute blast with Birdie, Jake, Nana and Pieta this afternoon. We saw "Puss in Boots" and for his first trip to a theater, Jack did amazingly well! He slept, ate and enjoyed as much of the movie as he could :) 

Afterwards, we indulged in some delicious homemade cake and ice cream with the rest of the family back at the Bird's Nest. What a wonderful way to celebrate Pieta's rambunctious third year of life!! We love you, Pieta!

King of the Wild Things!

Happy 55th Birthday, Dad!

Last night was an absolute blast. Good work, mom! 

Dad was completely surprised by all the friends and family members that came out to Cafe Latte to surprise him on his birthday. And he loved his "55" gifts - 55 prunes, 55 suckers, a list of the top 55 movies from 1956-2011 along with the 55 accompanying candies, 55 straws, 55 kisses from Jack...such creative ideas!

Thanks for making the night so special, everyone and so great seeing you all  :)

If only Ben, Luke and Lily could have been there - then the evening would have truly been complete...

Looking forward to having the (almost) whole family together in a little more than 2 weeks and then the whole fam together in just under a month!

Weekends to Remember

The last three weekends have been absolutely amazing :) 

The first weekend Ben surprised us by coming home from school. Seeing as my mom was out of town, the weekend was spent eating delicious food and watching football in our comfies (dad included). 

The following weekend was filled with scarecrow making (our scarecrow, Eek the Elephant, placed third in the annual scarecrow contest at the Minnesota Zoo!), running Twin Cities 10k with Mike (we finished in less than an hour! I was so proud of Mike - it was the furthest he had ever run and he did absolutely amazing!), Oktoberfest at the Farm, and a football-filled, Marathon-cheering-on sunny Sunday. 

Last weekend included Ben again (I am liking the fact that he has a car at school - it is so nice seeing him! We miss him so much...now if only Luke and Lily could figure out how to apparate...), manicures and pedicures (plus much giggling on Jack's end - turns out he loved the women at the nail salon!), more football and a wonderful birthday dinner with friends.

I love fall... :)

Master Mike

A week ago tonight, Mike handed in his LAST paper for his MBA program. In doing so, he became the first person to ever successfully complete both a BBA and a MBA at Concordia. We are so proud of him! As a way of honoring his accomplishments, I surprised him with family, drinks and dessert Tuesday night. With Bob and Dianne's help, it proved to be quite the success :)

3 Months

Tomorrow is Jack's first day of daycare - and my first day of work! Hopefully we both survive :)

Family Vacation

After spending a wonderful few days at the farm for a sewing retreat/get-away, Jack and I got to go back for an amazing long weekend with Mike and the rest of the Cunningham family. Croquet, swimming in Lake Superior and spending the day at the beach, homemade pizza on the grill, celebrating birthdays with ballons, party hats, dessert and presents, bonfires, movies, card and dice games, beautiful weather...what more could you ask for?!

A Trip to the Doctor's Office...

Jack had his two-month shots earlier this month. Three in his legs and one oral vaccination :( I have never seen a kid's face so red, but he did so well! Mommy and daddy were very proud. At the doctor's, Jack weighed just about 13 lbs and was 24 inches long; 70th percentile for weight and head circumference and 30th for length (although we think this number is a little low considering the nurse measured Jack at 21 inches long but when Mike and I remeasured, we got 24 inches instead...)

Happy (belated) Two Month, Jack!

SleepOver!

Well, Jack had his very first sleepover with Grandma Moolie and Grandpa G-man this past weekend. And guess what?! He slept through the night for the very first time! Almost 9 hours :) Those lucky ducks - didn't  have to get up in the middle of the night...they must have truly worn Jack out letting him do all the things mommy and daddy don't let him do.

Thanks for having him, mom and dad! Jack can't wait for his next sleepover!

First Anniversary

One year already. I simply can't believe it :)

It seems like just yesterday that we were walking down the halls of high school, leaving sweet little notes in each other's lockers, sending secret smiles across the way...

The past 8 years have been truly amazing. While its hard to start back at one, I couldn't be more excited for this new journey laying ahead. Whatever life brings, I know both you and I will welcome it - together - with open arms!

You have and always will be my best friend. Forever and for always!
